Total Invasion of Priivacy

Sad, horrid, gross invasion of privacy and so much more…go and read the full article at the Brisbane Courier Mail

A PHOTO of every state school student will be posted online by the Government, sparking fears pedophiles could use the database.

The intranet database, dubbed OneSchool, will profile each of the state’s 480,000 public school students enrolled from Prep to Year 12.

Photographs, personal details, career aspirations, off-campus activities and student performance records are being collected from all 1251 state schools.

Education Queensland said details of 180,000 students from 637 schools already were online and the database would be completed by December.

About 80,000 students are expected to be added to the internal education department database each year.

Scary, especially since they are putting up so much personal information. Though, you could pretty much find all the resources/information you needed (if you are a pedophile) online by going through family blogs.
Some of the blogs I read provide so much personal information and even photos of their kids enjoying a sprinkler in their backyard wearing only a smile.
I do not understand the need of the government to do this apart from possibly using it for placements into uni to show how committed the student could be.
I guess this is another way of the government controlling things here and fitting in with the Rudd’s policy of creating a national curriculum.
Anyhow, I am glad I haven’t done it for any of my kids, and that we can be somewhat private people still.
