How Long Have You Been Homeschooling?

Tell Me Tuesday is being hosted at the AussieHomeschool Blog. Here’s today’s question.

How long have you been homeschooling?

2009 marks our 12 year of learning at home. We unofficially started in late 1997 and 1998 was our first year.

In July this year it will officially be 11 years!
In that time I’ve tried out just about every homeschooling curriculum written, changed my philosophy on education at least once a year, taken up a number of new interest that seem to fall within the same category such as baking bread and juicing, threatened to send my children back to school at least once a week, answered at least 1000 questions on why I would do this by concerned bystanders, spent way too long on the internet “researching” and ending up just reading blogs instead, got involved in numerous debates over interesting subjects such as favourite math curriculum, what blender to use etc etc, met some lovely “online” homeschoolers such as this lady here! and also some “unusual” people that have left me thinking about Bilbo’s speech at the end of his party!
